'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range strike from distance, and his teammate quickly hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away encounters against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
